Mark Cuban sues Nellie

Mark Cuban is a joke.

It was announced today that Cuban is suing Don Nelson, the former Dallas Maverick coach and current Golden State Warrior coach, for using inside information to beat the Mavericks in the playoffs. Basically, Cuban is suing Nellie for owning Cuban and the Mavs in the playoffs, in the most embarrassing upset in NBA history. I mean, as if the Mavs playoff exit wasn't cruel enough. This makes me want to laugh.
"I'm embarrassed by the whole thing," Nellie told Big Ed Sefko, but I reckon
Cuban doesn't have enough dignity to feel the same way.
Steve Nash better
thank his lucky stars that the Suns lost to the Mavs in the 2006 playoffs, or
Cuban might have taken him to court, too.
If Cuban wins this case, Avery
needs to watch out. I'm sure the Spurs can present a pretty convincing case that
Avery's inside info helped the Mavs eliminate San Antonio in last season's
conference semis.
Obviously, this is somewhat of a counter-attack against Nellie's lawsuit against the Mavs where he says he is owed $6.5 Million. Cuban is so rich and has so many lawyers sitting around and doing nothing that he can just try to bury Nellie in paperwork and bogus lawsuits to hope he folds. I hope Nellie comes out on top on this one. This is one of the major reasons why fell like Cuban has no class and that, disappointingly, transcends throughout the Maverick organization. It makes me proud to be an American when I know that a rich bully can basically do whatever he wants when it comes to the court system to almost make it impossible for the underdog to succeed.... I HATE MARK CUBAN... GO NELLIE!

CONCACAF Gold Cup: Canada vs. USA (Canada got screwed)

Canada got screwed. USA just beat Canada 2-1 in a semi-final in the CONCACAF Gold cup. This means that USA goes to the final and will face the winner of Mexico and Guadalupe. The only problem is that Canada scored thier second goal in the fourth minute of injury time that should have tied the game, but the goal was disallowed when the line ref called offsides. It actually was not offsides because the pass was not by a Canadian player, the ball was headed by an American player to a Canadian player and he scored a goal that should have tied the game which should have gone to extra time.

Atiba Hutchinson put a shot past Keller, but Mexican referee Benito Archundia waved the goal off, saying the Canadian was offside. Replays showed the ball went off U.S. defender Oguchi Onyewu, meaning the goal should have counted. Canadian players were visibly irate, and they vehemently argued to no avail with Archundia, who seconds later blew the final whistle. Canadian players and substitutes complained bitterly after the match. At one point, former Canadian Soccer Association chief operating officer Kevan Pipe - who is running the Chicago venue for CONCACAF - stepped in front of Canadian manager Morgan Quarry as he harangued the officials. Pipe was fired by the CSA last November.
It is sad that the officials had to fail in this situation. The game was great and I wanted to see more. Now I can't help but feel that the USA got a pass and should not really be in the Gold Cup final, but as they say... "that's football."

Real Madrid v Mallorca (Match Report)

Real Madrid are the Champions of Spain in Backham's last game with the team. They will for sure miss him. I bet they wish he was staying considering his current form. I bet everyone is eating their words and actions after throwing Becks under the bus, including England's coach Steve McClaren. I wish the FA would fire him for ever doubting Beckham. I mean all Becks did was be one of the best England captains of all time, the sole reason they did anything in the 2006 World Cup and the sole reason why they are back in contention in the UEFA Euro 2008.
Yet all Beckham does is act with class. When they call him to play he plays and his play speaks more than words could. I hope McClaren realizes what an idiot he is and thanks Beckham for saving his job. Go David Beckham.

Bob Barker backs Rosie O'Donnell

According to CNN and The AP, Bob Barker endorsed his friend Rosie O'Donnell as a possible successor on "The Price Is Right," although the newly retired host isn't sure CBS wants a woman to take over the game show. "I believe they're going to have a meeting with Rosie," Barker said backstage Friday night at the Daytime Emmy Awards, where he won his 19th trophy. "She knows the show," he said. "There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."

Barker said his friendship with O'Donnell goes back several years, when she had him as a guest on her old daytime talk show. "She told me she loved 'The Price Is Right' and wanted to host it one day," he recalled. Among those mentioned as possible replacement hosts have been Todd Newton of the E! network, Mark Steines of "Entertainment Tonight," George Hamilton and John O'Hurley.

Now if this happens the price will definitely be wrong. I will never again watch the show. Rosie will make the show about her and not about the games by trying to get attention by being controversial and saying not funny jokes in a loud an obnoxious way. Please, Please, CBS do not, do not choose Rosie to host one of the best game shows of all time, if that happened the show would be dead. When I think of a charming host such as Bob Barker the last person that comes to mind is Rosie O'Donnell.

Greg Oden is a smart guy

According to Sports Illustrated, Ohio State center who is likely to be drafted by Seattle or Portland, told everyone what he knows about the Pacific Northwest:

"I know it rains a lot. I know it's close to L.A., and I love that. I want to go to L.A. and go to the beach."

Man, I don't want to talk a bunch of crap, but I guess this guy didn't take geography class in his one year of college. Being that the closer of the two cities (Portland) is about 1,000 miles North of L.A. I don't think Oden will be in Malibu on a regular basis. Good lord, thank god he has an incredible natural talent that will make him millions. Wow Greg Oden, all I can say is wow. Although this is one of the most ignorant, idiotic comments I've read in awhile, I can't wait to see him play in the Western conference. And he said he would've rather been a dentist. Maybe Oden should understand the concept of space and time before he tries to give someone a root canal.

Cristiano Ronaldo and his man-purse

2007 English FA "Footballer of the Year" Cristiano Ronaldo was seen making an appearance at a fashion show in Portugal. I don't think I know of a male athlete that loves himself as much as Ronaldo. Fellow Manchester United teammate, Patrice Evra, revealed an embarrassing secret about Ronaldo, claiming that the Portuguese winger suffers from narcissism: “Cristiano makes me laugh because he is the only one to have his personal mirror in the dressing room. He spends hours doing his hair and putting on his gel. He loves his body.”

TheBigLead.com's had this take:

The best soccer player the planet may have to offer frequently wears tiny
swimming trunks, seemingly always finds himself poolside and shirtless with a
bunch of dudes, and he may or may not have a personal mirror in the dressing room. And here, we find Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo wearing a mustard yellow leather jacket, studded with diamonds. There appears to be more hair gel than necessary.
I'll admit though, he is an incredible football player and is the sole reason why Man United won the Barclay's English Premier League.

Michael Finley is the man

Well, the highest paid Dallas Maverick just won an NBA championship. The problem for Mavs fans, the DFW metroplex, and one Mark Cuban is that he doesn't really play for the Mavs. This, of course, is the one and only San Antonio Spur, Michael Finley. How could you not be happy for this guy? One of the biggest class acts in all of sports. It's all the more sweater that Mark Cuban and the Mavs are still paying him around $18 million for this year, after throwing him under the bus so they didn't have to pay a hefty NBA luxury tax, while the Spurs are paying him around $2 million and giving him the most memorable moment in his career, a NBA championship.

The Spurs arrived in SA-town this afternoon and Michael Finley spoke to the crowd. He told the cheering crowd that he was "just happy to be a part of this." "Last year I was crying and this year I was crying, too," the former Dallas Mavericks player said. Becoming an NBA champion felt "damn good," he said, adding that he had a message to those who questioned his move to San Antonio from Dallas: "To all those people who said, 'Why San Antonio?' I have to say, 'Why not San Antonio?'"

That's right Mavs fans. The face of your organization for the past decade just won an NBA championship with a rival team with everything that you strive to be, but you wouldn't know what winning a title feels like... I'm really, really, really sorry. Michael Finley is laughing all the way to the bank with your $18 million and a ring, son.

Bruce Bowen is praised on best fan sign ever.

A Spurs' fan was spotted at the NBA finals game last night with possibly the best sign of all time. Sorry I couldn't find a picture of it just yet, but I just found it too important to not post. It's actually on the 'Spurs' championship video' I recently posted, at the very end. It read, to some extent, '70% of the world is covered by water, and the rest is covered by Bruce Bowen.' The truest statement I have ever heard.

This is from the Spurs "unofficial" Blog, and I put this up because I couldn't have said it any better myself: "I love that Bruce Bowen held Lebron James to 32-90 in the Finals. 32-90. And he did it while playing over 40 minutes a game, committing a total of only 7 fouls and never once giving anyone any reason to question the cleanliness of his play." That by itself speaks volumes. I know Tony Parker won the Finals MVP, but I would have loved to see Bruce get the award. I know it wouldn't have been possible, but he epitomizes everything that the San Antonio Spurs are by how his hard work gets practically unnoticed by everyone except for the NBA purists. Bruce Bowen, I salute you and Lebron you got BOWNED.

Oh yeah baby, three words: Go Spurs Go!

Comment from a loser Arsenal fan

From Erik...(about Henry possibly leaving North London)

No way does Henry leave Emirates. Despite being injured for more than half the year, Arsenal still finished in Champions League placing in the Premiership without any real problem. They have great young talent: Rosicky and Cesc, and still have Gilberto and Lehman to back him up. Arsenal will be fine next year and will hopefully challenge the Devils and v*gina blues for the cup.

Though Barca is not doing poorly, they are many pegs down from the incredible season they experienced last year. However, losing Eto for a majority of the season could be pointed to, they still crashed out of the Champions League and have been conceding ground to a Real team that still isn't great.

He should stay at Arsenal and remain a demigod there to the fans. As long as Arsene is there, he won't leave. Besides, how much would English football suck if we just had to watch man U and Chelsea play all the time.

Michael Jackson's Punch-Out!

Henry to Barca???

First a French magazine reports this...

Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has reached an agreement to transfer to Barcelona, the Web site of a French sports magazine reported Monday. Henry's agent and Barcelona's sports director agreed to a three-year contract, and it's now up to "convincing" the north London club, France Football reports in its edition to be published Tuesday. Details were not immediately available. The site only showed a photo of the magazine's cover page featuring a photo of Henry under the headline "Barca-Henry: Deal Reached." On a promotional trip to China last month, Henry did little to dampen speculation that he was about to leave Arsenal for Barcelona - weeks after Barcelona's president said he was completing a deal.
Then, According to Thierry Henry...
Thierry Henry's agent will "seek legal advice" after France Football magazine
claimed the Arsenal striker has agreed terms with Barcelona. Henry's future has been the subject of speculation again this summer despite him signing a four-year contract with the Gunners last year. But his agent Jerome Anderson was categoric in denying the magazine's claims. In a statement, he said: "No meetings have ever taken place between Jerome Anderson and Barcelona in France or anywhere else, and Jerome Anderson will be seeking legal advice against France Football."
So, what's the deal? Well, we don't know for now. If Henry gets transferred to any club, no matter where it is, it is going to be the biggest move of the transfer season without a doubt. AC Milan? Barca? Who knows? Henry says he is an Arsenal player for now, but he was devastated when a big part of the club left. This was the departure of vice-chairman David Dein, who left after a dispute with his fellow directors over the increased involvement of American businessman Stan Kroenke. Henry said, "I was devastated when Mr Dein left the club. I don't know what happened and I don't want to know but whatever went on, Mr Dein leaving was not a clever move."

Indecision 2008: Second Democratic Presidential Debate

The infinite number of prime time hours occupied by presidential debates begs the question: can't we treat these face-offs like America’s Next Top Model? You know, get rid of one candidate after each one, until it's down to the final three, and then have a vogue-off to determine the winner? Stupid politics.
Moderator Wolf Blitzer accelerated the q-and-a process by asking candidates to raise their hands to convey stances on complicated issues like "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell," military force in Darfur, and Iraq policy. Blitzer finally posed the question, "If you agree that we need to repeal No Child Left Behind, please put both hands in the air," encouraging candidates to add emphasis by waving them around like they just didn’t care. They were also invited to say "ho-o."

Now... Quotes on Tim Duncan

"Don't compare anybody to Duncan. He's a different guy. He has a better supporting cast than in the past. From an offensive standpoint, he doesn't have to carry the load as he has in years past, but he is still Tim Duncan ."
- Avery Johnson

“Duncan deserves everything he gets, as far as I'm concerned. It's frustrating guarding Tim Duncan even if they think he's not getting the calls. He's a hell of a basketball player.”
Doc Rivers quotes

“When I watch NBA games now on TV, what I see the most are opportunities for the big men that they are not taking advantage of. That's what I told Tim Duncan when I saw him this year at the Finals in San Antonio. When you go into the lane and they take away the jump hook, just reverse pivot. The baseline is there.”

Michelle Wie... SUCKS.

I think this picture says it all. Wie's woes continued Saturday at the LPGA Championship when she shot an 11-over 83 at Bulle Rock, leaving her in last place by five shots among the 84 players who made the cut and uncertain if she would show up for the final round. Even against the men, Michelle Wie hasn't shot this big a number since she was in the ninth grade.

An LPGA Tour official clarified midway through the back nine that "Rule 88," in which non-tour members are banned for a year if they fail to break 88, would not be an issue because it only applies before the cut is made. A week ago, Wie withdrew at 14 over par with two holes to play with a bad wrist, raising speculation that she was worried about losing the rest of her LPGA Tour schedule with two more bogeys. An 88 looked possible on a sunny day at Bulle Rock when Wie was 10 over par through 13 holes, but she made par out of the hazard on the 15th and 16th holes, standing on a pile of rocks to hit out of one hazard on the 16th hole.

Noah: I hated MJ as N.Y. fan

Joakim Noah grew up a Knicks fan in New York, which is why these words rolled off his tongue fairly easily on Friday."Damn," Noah said, "I hated Michael Jordan."

Thanks to the Eddy Curry trade, the Bulls own the ninth overall pick in the June 28 draft courtesy of the Knicks, a fact not wasted on the wit of Noah.
"As a kid, the Bulls made me cry a few times," he said following his draft workout at the Berto Center. "But you have to give credit where credit is due. I would love to come and play here. It's a team that has a lot of tradition in a city that expects winning, and winning is what's important to me."

Noah and his Florida Gators teammates proved that with back-to-back NCAA titles coached by Billy Donovan. Noah has text-messaged Donovan since his messy saga with the Orlando Magic ended and vowed to visit him in Gainesville, Fla., soon. "I was really surprised," Noah said of Donovan's decision to take the Magic job briefly."But it doesn't affect my relationship with him. I love him regardless. He has done a lot for me. I don't know if I'd be in this situation if it weren't for him."I'm proud of him. You know what? He followed his heart. To me, that's really important."

How many people actually work

STILL NOT ABOUT SPORTS...

The population of this country is 300 million.
160 million are retired.
That leaves 140 million to do the work.
There are 85 million in school.
Which leaves 55 million to do the work.
Of this there are 35 million employed by the federal government.
Leaving 15 million to do the work.
2.8 million are in the armed forces.
Which leaves 12.2 million to do the work.
Take from that total the 10.8 million people who work for state and city governments.
And that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.
At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.
Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.
Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.
That leaves just two people to do the work.
You and me.
And there you are, Sitting on your ass,
At your computer, reading jokes.
Nice...Real nice.

Why veto something that could save lives?

NOT ABOUT SPORTS, BUT SOMETHING WAY MORE IMPORTANT. GEORGE W. BUSH IS GOING TO HINDER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AGAIN TO THE DETRIMENT OF ALL OF US.

Yesterday, Sen. Charles Schumer sent an urgent note-which is included below-saying we needed a grassroots uprising to convince President Bush not to veto the lifesaving Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act.The response was absolutely amazing. And good thing too.President Bush's veto may come as early as Monday morning. We need as many signatures as possible by then.

The president and his right wing ideologues are citing a promising new scientific study showing it MAY be possible to derive the most promising types of stem cells without using embryos. This, despite the fact that the very scientists who made this discovery have said it is important we continue to pursue all avenues of stem cell research.Sen. Tom Harkin, a chief sponsor of the bill, said it best: "It is time to take the shackles off of our federal researchers."Once again, Bush is cherry picking the science to the detriment of us all. So, please, if you haven't signed the DSCC's petition, do so now. We need all of the support we can get.

One of the Worst The Price Is Right Players Ever

Bob Barker left The Price is Right yesterday... so this is in honor of him... the biggest baller of all time.

The Dreaded 2-3-2

I just want to take a second to talk a little crap about the format of the NBA Finals, which is 2-3-2. Meaning that the home court advantage team gets the first two games at home and the last two, if the series goes to seven games. So, is this really home court advantage? Personally I wouldn't want to be the home team because if home court stays true, the home team will be facing an elimination game during game six.

Every other series in the NBA playoffs is in a 2-2-1-1-1 format. In this case, if home court stays true, the only elimination game the home team will face is game seven. So, why does the NBA do this. There are several theories, but the only one that is valid is the reason of the sports media. When the format is 2-3-2 they only have to make two trips from city to city.

I think this is total crap. For example, I believe one of the main reasons why the Dallas Mavericks lost the NBA Finals last year to the Miami Heat is because of the format of the series. Everyone won their respective home games... (games one-five) and then the Mavs faced an elimination game in game six. We all know that game five of an NBA playoff series is the most crucial when the series is close and especially when is is tied 2-2 and in the NBA Finals this (game 5) is not on the home team's court like every other series. But I guess we have to cater to the worthless media. I know it's tough for them to travel... Another one of David Stern's brilliant ideas.

Air Manu

HAHAHA... Great article from the AOL Fanhouse...

Final Finals Showdown: Gooden's Neckstache vs. Manu's Bald Spot

It may not have the cachet of LeBron vs. The Rash (or even Frenchie/Larry), but the stylistic war upon us will always hold water in this league of style. No one on the globe knows what to make of Drew Gooden's Bizarro Moustache, his businessless party in the back. Most mock it, many stare at its hypnotic magnetism. I'm here to say it's fricking rules.

On the opposite side of the battlefield we have the naturalism of Manu Ginobili's growing bald spot. Where Gooden is daring and abstract, Manu is a realist. Lord knows he's beloved enough in Bueno Aires to get the fresh hair of Argentine boys transplanted to his dome, but he's opted to stay true and display the male pattern baldness with confidence. Kudos for the honesty, for sure.

But the spot is more fairly matched up against Sheed's divot -- Manu simply can't compete with the awesomeness that is the neckstache. Major victory for Cleveland here.

SORRY TO COPY THE WHOLE PEICE, BUT I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS AMAZING...

LONDON, ARE YOU SERIOUS??

So this is the logo that was released earlier this week for the 2012 Olympics in London. What are they eating over there? I mean, are you serious? They probably paid some guy six digits and this is what he came up with. Check out how happy he is about it...

Well... not as happy as some... the mayor of London said... (from the Mirror)

London mayor Ken Livingstone is said to be furious at the cost and design of the brand. A source said: "Ken called it the no-go logo and thought it was a big waste of money."

According to several sources the logo also caused a few epileptic seizures... wow... I don't think there is anything else that would be a bigger clue that this is possibly the worst graphic design disaster in... well... history. Good god, what is in the water over there? Another critic said: "It looks like some sort of comical sex act between the Simpsons." I don't know where to end this, but I guess... I can't wait for some more curling... oh wait, that's the winter Olympics. Cheerio.

SI Covers

Lets compare last week's Sports Illustrated cover to this week's.

Last week...

This week...

Now... Obviously, both of these covers and inside articles on Lebron and Duncan are in praise of some great basketball players, but I just want to take a moment to discuss them. The one on Duncan is four pages long and the one on Lebron is nine pages long. Hmm... maybe this means something. Oh yeah... and a whole half of a page in Duncan's article has a insert about Lebron. Wow. I know no one in the country wants the Spurs to win another championship (outside of San Antonio), but does the media really have to be that biased and subjective. So, it's "present vs. future" is it? More like good vs. bad the Spurs vs. Lebron or the best in the West vs. any horrible team out of the East. Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers have no chance, and I mean no chance to beat the Spurs in a seven game series. Spurs in five.

So, the Spurs are dirty???

Last night, Amare Stoudemire was on the "Best Damn Sports Show" on the Fox Sports network and he was asked about the Spurs-Suns series, obviously. He still took his position that the Spurs are a dirty team, even though his team could not match the physicality of the series... so naturally he chooses to continue his whining. He also said that the outcome of the series would have been different if he had not been suspended for running on the court, like an idiot, during an altercation. Stating that if that not had happened, the finals would be Suns and Cavs.

All right Amare, don't you think it's about time you said to yourself that you got out played by a better team and stop complaining. I mean, I know you were frustrated after game six when you lost to the Spurs, enough that you left the floor without shaking any one's hand like a real man or sportsman would. Amare is nothing but a complaining punk.
OH YEAH... I want everyone to check this video out... This happened two years ago when the Spurs played the Suns in the playoffs and the Spurs had a series advantage of 3-1 and a lead of about 8 points with 8 minutes to go and went on to beat the Suns. In this play, a Sun's player intentionally kicks Tim Duncan in the crouch when he is going up for a shot. My point is that no one involved with the Spurs called the Suns dirty after this or since then. We forgot about it and moved on and beat the crap out of the Suns. We focused on playing basketball and not talking about ridiculous allegations of dirty play. Way to go Amare... sportsman of the year goes to you.

Chelsea FC kid disses Stevan Gerrard

This is a little old, but I just came across it and being that I am a Chelsea fan I have got to post it. In this video this little kid disses Stevan Gerrard, who is the Captain of the most decorated football club in England, Liverpool FC, by faking him out on a low-five. Most children would probably freak out if they ever came into contact with a superstar of Gerrard's stature, but not this guy... way to go little man. Very funny.

Tim Duncan Quotes

This is why Tim Duncan is a Champion.

"Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best."

"The time when there is no one there to feel sorry for you or to cheer for you is when a player is made. "
-Tim Duncan

Anderson Varejao is Sideshow Bob

This is Anderson Varejao. It would be more realistic if he were acting and flopping as if he had gotten fouled. Sorry Sideshow, you are going to lose to the Spurs and come to the realization that you are one of the biggest scrubs in the NBA. Go back to Brazil where supposedly you were a superstar. OWNED!

Futurama - Blernsball

I can't wait until baseball is this exciting... and not as boring as "mom and apple pie." MULTIBALL! MULTIBALL! BLERN! BLERNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

Jerry Sloan on Tim Duncan

"It's always interesting to see how he starts the ball game, he is very polite and very nice to the plays he plays against, and then he annihilates them when he gets out on the floor. He is a no-nonsense guy."
